The Office of the Dalai Lama has advised that His Holiness has been admitted to Lilivati Hospital in Mumbai after complaining of stomach pain.
“There is nothing major to feel concerned about,” the Dalai Lama’s personal secretary Tenzin Taklha said at a press conference in Dharamsala, the Indian hill town where the Tibetan government-in-exile is based. “But he has been admitted to the Lilivati Hospital in Mumbai because he was feeling some discomfort in his abdomen.”
The check-up is being carried out “at the recommendation of his personal physicians,” Taklha said.
Officials said the Dalai Lama would now not lead a worldwide 12-hour fast on 30 August but that the fast and prayer session will take place without him.
Scheduled visits to Mexico and the Dominican Republic have been dropped. |
