TibetNet reports that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to visit Sao
Paulo, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Lima and Bogota in Latin America from 26
April to 12 May 2006.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be in Sao Paulo, the largest city of
Brazil, from 26 to 29 April during which he will give a teaching on Eight
Versus of Training the Mind to the Buddhist community of Brazil at Zu Lai
Temple.
Located in Cotia on the outskirts of Sao Paulo City, Zu Lai is the biggest
Chinese Mahayana Buddhist Temple in Latin America.
His Holiness will also deliver lectures on wisdom and compassion, and science and spirituality for the Federal University of Sao Paulo’s School of Medicine.
Other programmes on his Sao Paulo schedule include a public talk on The
Power of Compassion, to be given at the Ginasio Estadual Ibirapuera
Convention Center and participation in an Inter-religious Prayer for Peace
at the Cathedral da Se in Central Sao Paulo.
From 30 April to 2 May, His Holiness will be in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, where His Holiness will give a public talk on Inner Peace, Outer Peace, and a teaching on the Seven Point Mind Training to the Buddhist community of Argentina.
His Holiness will also participate in a dialogue on Health and Spirituality,
and in an Inter-religious Prayer for Peace at the La Rural Convention
Center. In addition, he will address intellectuals and opinion makers at
MALBA auditorium.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will then depart for Santiago, the capital of
Chile, and spend four days (3 to 6 May) there.
During his 4-day stay in Santiago, His Holiness will participate in a
full-day seminar on the Exploration of Mind co-hosted by the University of
Chile and University of Valpraiso.
He will give a public talk on The Power of Compassion, and a teaching to the
Buddhist community of Chile at the Santiago Arena Convention Center in
Parque O’Higgins. His Holiness is also expected to participate in an
Inter-religious Prayer for Peace at the Catholic University.
His Holiness will address intellectuals and opinion-makers at the University
of Chile and is expected to receive an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the
University of Santiago.
From Santiago, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will depart for Lima, the capital
of Peru, for a three-day programme from 7 to 9 May. The four-day programme
of His Holiness includes a public talk on The Power of Tolerance at the
Catholic University of Peru, a visit to Cuzco, the mythical capital of the
Inca Empire, where he will give a public talk on Ancient Culture in Modern
Society, and participation in an Inter-religious Prayer for Peace.
In Santiago also, His Holiness has been requested to address intellectuals
and opinion-makers, and also to give a teaching to the Buddhist community of
Peru.
The last leg of His Holiness’ South American visit will take him to the
Colombian capital of Bogota, where he is scheduled to give public talks on
Inner Peace, Outer Peace at the Convention Center Coliseo Cubierto el
Campin, Wisdom and Compassion at the Javeriana University, and a teaching to
the Buddhist community of Colombia at the convention center Gonzalo Jimenez
de Quesada, from 10 to 12 May.
His Holiness will also address intellectuals and opinion makers of Colombia.
