Five great reasons to take up this fundraising challenge …

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the situation in Tibet and an ‘insiders’ view into the exile Tibetan community in Dharamsala. For those interested, ATC can organise briefings from ex-political prisoners and officials from the Tibetan Government-in-Exile and Tibetan NGO’s.
  • Experience Tibetan culture first hand in the exile home of the Dalai Lama.
  • Have a really good reason to get fit in 2008.
  • It is a fantastic opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the continued work of the ATC.
  • Make 2008 a year of great personal achievement - this is an experience of a lifetime!

    Last Year’s Trek - September 2007

    Image
The 2007 journey began in Delhi before travelling by train and jeep to Dharamsala - home to the Dalai Lama and more than 8,000 Tibetan refugees. We set off on a camping trek, walking along the trails of the nomadic Gaddi Shepherds. The trek was a tough, yet highly rewarding, six-day journey through the Kullu Valley, surrounded by the peaks of Himalayas. We returned to Dharamsala to spend some time with the Tibetan community, gaining a behind the scenes insight into the life of Tibetans in exile. We were extremely fortunate to be able to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to hear the moving stories of three ex-political prisoners. The final leg of this fantastic journey included an evening visit to the majestic Taj Mahal in Agra.
