The Dalai Lama has accepted an invitation to visit Australia again in 2007. The Tibetan leader accepted the invitation during a meeting with George Farley, Chairman of the Dalai Lama in Australia Ltd. and the Australia Tibet Council. George was in India for the Dalai Lama’s 70th birthday celebrations on 6 July, 2005.
In a statement issued following the meeting, the Dalai Lama said:
“I would like to assure my Australian friends that despite having reached the age of 70, I am determined to continue my work of promoting basic human values, inter-religious understanding and my responsibilities as the Dalai Lama. I very much appreciate the support that many thousands of Australians and people of goodwill from around the world have given to these efforts, and sincerely appreciate your assurance that this assistance will continue in the future. Thanks you for your kind invitation to make a fifth visit to Australia in 2007.”
