‘STAND UP FOR TIBET!’ – Global Day of Action for Tibet, Monday 31st March 2008 Print E-mail

With the world’s eyes on Tibet and Kevin Rudd heading to China for meetings with the Chinese leadership, Tibetans and Tibet supporters in Australia will be joining thousands around the world on Monday in a Global Day of Action for Tibet.

WHERE Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Hobart
WHEN Monday 31st March 2008

With simultaneous events in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart the ‘day of action’ will serve to demonstrate the tremendous depth of public support in Australia for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Tibet.

Organizers, the Australia Tibet Council, are calling on China to:

• Keep the Olympic Torch out of Tibet.
• Allow access to Tibet by media and independent monitors.
• Negotiate with the Dalai Lama for a lasting solution to the Tibet issue.
