The Tibetan Community of Australia (NSW) is a local community association representing the interests of Tibetans residing in New South Wales, Australia. The Tibetan Community has been active since its inception in preserving and promoting Tibetan culture in Australia through various programmes.

Instituted in 1959, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) consists of a democratically elected legislature, executive and judiciary. The creation of the CTA has been one of the major changes that the Dalai Lama has brought about in his efforts to introduce a democratic system of administration for the Tibetan refugee community. The various CTA departments are listed below.
Department of Health
The Department of Health has been organizing and maintaining health care programs as well as health education campaigns. It also provides basic health care for both Tibetans and local Indian residents.
Department of Information and International Relations
International affairs of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) are handled by the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR). The DIIR is also responsible for disseminating information on all aspects of Tibet.
Department of Religion and Culture
The Department of Religion and Culture was established in 1960 for the purpose of preserving and promoting the religious and cultural heritage of Tibet.
The Department of Finance
The main objective of the Department of Finance is to raise revenue for the CTA in order to fulfil the very mission of keeping Tibetan identity alive.
Department of Education
The Department of Education oversees the educational needs and welfare of Tibetan children in exile. It provides primary education for every Tibetan refugee child. It aims to develop modern scientific and technical education and skills, while giving equal emphasis to both modern and traditional education.
Department of Security
Established in 1959, the Department of Security has the primary responsibility for the security of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It also monitors developments in the exile Tibetan community as well as the changing situation inside Tibet.
The Department of Home
The Department of Home is responsible for the welfare of socio-economic development of all the Tibetan refugees. |
