At the US-China summit in Beijing, Presidents Obama and Hu have released a joint statement that indicates they discussed a resolution for Tibet, human rights and religious freedom. However, most of mainstream Chinese society may never know due to censorship and selective reporting. Read more
Dalai Lama Hosted By The Italian Parliament For World Parliamentarians Conference On Tibet
On 18 November 2009, His Holiness the Dalai Lama addressed the 5th World Parliamentarians’ Convention for Tibet held in Rome. Over 100 Parliamentarians from 28 countries were in attendance, including Australian parliamentarian Peter Slipper MP. Read full story
Tibetan Website Founder Sentenced To 15 Years Imprisonment
Kunchok Tsephel, an official in a Chinese government environmental department and founder of the influential Tibetan literary website, Chodme (‘Butter-Lamp’, www.tibetcm.com), has been sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of disclosing state secrets, according to reports from Tibet received by Tibetan exiles.
