Monk Dies After Setting Himself On Fire In Protest In Tibet
In less than six months after the self-immolation of monk Phuntsog in Ngaba in eastern Tibet, another young monk died after setting himself on fire in a protest yesterday. Tsewang Norbu from Nyitso monastery shouted slogans in the centre of Tawu in Kandze Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, calling for freedom in Tibet minutes before dousing himself with petrol. The iwalk4tibet Team Did It Again In Sydney’s City2Surf
ATC would like to thank the iwalk4tibet team who made quite an impact for the second time in the annual City2Surf last Sunday. The wet weather did not dampen the spirit of the team of 26 Tibetans and Tibet supporters who crossed the finish line hand in hand after walking 14 km from the city to Bondi. Huge banners of "Free Tibet" and the Dalai Lama’s portraits, hanging at the bend of the finish line, once again greeted the 85,000-strong crowd of the iconic Sydney event. Click here for pictures

The Way Forward On Tibet - A Public Talk by the Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy
ATC is excited to be organising the next high-profile Tibetan visitor to Canberra and Sydney next week. The Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy Lodi Gyari has led the Tibetan delegation in talks with the Chinese government for the last decade and lobbied with the US government for 20 years. He will meet politicians in the federal parliament to discuss political opportunities for Tibet. We are organising a public talk in Sydney. This is a great opportunity to gain insights into the dynamics of the Tibet-China relationship, the aspirations of the Tibetan exiles and China’s approach toward resolution of the Tibet issue.
