A Taste of Tibet and Movie Night, 25 September 2010, Vajrayana Institute, Ashfield Print E-mail

Movie: “DALAI LAMA Renaissance” (narrated by Harrison Ford)

“Everybody thinks of changing humanity, and nobody thinks of changing himself.”

Join the Vajrayana Institute for a very special screening of the documentary “Dalai Lama Renaissance”, the first in Australia.

Described by Geshe Samten as a very moving film, this documentary gives “a very unique and intimate experience with the Dalai Lama” when he is in the company of 40 prominent thinkers who have gathered in Dharamsala for a meeting to “solve the world’s problems.”

You will also enjoy a taste of Tibet with a generous serving of authentic Tibetan food, including the famous Tibetan momo (dumplings) and much more.

This Taste of Tibet and Movie night is organized by the newly launched Brick by Brick Project to raise the funds for the residential college, Tsawa Khangtsen, at Sera Je Monastery in Southern India where Geshe Samten and many other FPMT teachers have lived, studied and practiced.

The monastery is now facing a shortage of accommodation. Much of the existing accommodation is in poor condition, with leaking roofs during the monsoon and rooms that are unbearably hot in summer.

The proposal is to build 100 new rooms to accommodate 200 monks. Communities from around the world are working together to help raise the funds needed.

In Australia, the Vajrayana Institute has committed to donate $50,000 in the form of 50,000 bricks at $1 a brick.

The BRICK by BRICK project:
One brick will start a wall
1,000 bricks will build a wall
5,000 bricks will build a room and two monks will live in warmth and comfort.
