Board of Directors

The Australia Tibet Council Ltd is led by a Board of Directors, which is elected by its members.

The Chair is the contact for any governance issues, with the Executive Officer being the first point of contact for all operational and administrative matters.

Zoë has a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Anthropology and a Master of Arts in International Social Development.

She has been actively involved with the ATC NSW Branch since joining in 1999 and worked in ATC’s National Office as the Admin Officer and Campaigns Assistant. Zoe has worked in Humanitarian Aid at Union Aid Abroad APHEDA in Sydney, NSW.

Zoë joined the Board in May 2006

Hal has an B.A. from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada; Dip. Ed. from Melbourne University and Grad. Dip of Data Processing from Monash University, Melbourne.

From 1981 through 2009 he worked in Information Technology with QANTAS, and from 2009 through 2012 he was IT Consultant to Jetstar Airlines. Hal is currently retired. He has served as Treasurer to Tara Institue, a Tibetan Buddhist Centre and to the 1992 Australian Dalai Lama Tour Committee.

Hal joined the Board in July 2014.

Simon was a member of ATC’s staff between 2007 and 2010, first as Campaign Co-ordinator and later as Research and Government Relations Manager. He is presently a Climate Change Advocacy Coordinator at Oxfam Australia.

In 2007 Simon completed a four-year doctoral research project on the traditional relationship between the land and people of Tibet.

Simon joined the Board in September 2010.

Katie holds a Bachelor of International Studies from The University of New South Wales and Graduate Certificate in International Health, Curtin University, Sydney, NSW. She is currently studying for a Masters in Education (secondary) at University of New England.

She works with ​Greenpeace Australasia and previously worked with Union Aid Abroad- APHEDA & ​Burma Children Medical Fund based on the Thai-Burma Border and for ​Inspired ​Adventures in Sydney. She has been a volunteer with Australia Tibet Council since 2000 and worked in the office between 2003 and 2007. ​

Katie joined the Board in July 2014.

Prue has M.A. Organisational Communications from Charles Sturt University, 2012 and Bachelor of Business, Marketing from the University of Queensland.

She is currently Director of Fundraising for MS Queensland and has worked extensively in fundraising for Cancer Council Queensland and the Endeavour Foundation.

Prue joined the Board in August 2014.

Lesley has been a passionate supporter of Tibet and its people for more than a decade, visiting Tibet in 2006 and formally joining ATC in 2007.

She is an active member of the Queensland ATC Branch and took on the Branch Secretary role for several years. She became ATC State Branch Convenor in 2011, a role she held until standing down in September 2015.

Lesley joined the Board in May 2016.

Sonam was born in Tibetan Exile Village of Dolanj in Northern India state of Himachal Pradesh in the Tibet.

He has a Bachelor of Science from Punjab University, India 1993 and a Masters in International Public Health, Sydney University 2008.

2000 - present : Education and Media Officer, Sydney Local Health District.
1994 - 1998 Under Secretary, Education and Media Officer, Department of Health, Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala, India

Sonam joined the Board in July 2014.
