15 Nov 2024: Australia Tibet Council (ATC) give evidence at Hearing of the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee into Australia’s sanctions regime.

Australia Tibet Council (ATC) were able to speak to the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee during a hearing on Australia’s sanctions regime.

ATC reiterated that Australia currently has not placed targeted sanction on any Chinese entities or individuals involved in human rights abuses in Tibet.

ATC firmly believes that sanctions are only effective if all like-minded countries apply them in coordination. This also prevents a country acting as a “safe-haven” for human rights abusers.
